Cookie Policy

Net Tenerife · Tenerife, Spain

This page lists, in plain language, every cookie and browser-storage item that hirecartenerife.com sets, why each one is there and how to remove it. We kept the list short on purpose: a comparison site that takes no payment has little reason to track you, and the items below are the complete account of what loading this site actually does to your browser.

1. What this site sets, item by item

laravel_session

Cookie, set by us

Keeps your visit working as you move from page to page, for example remembering the filters you picked on the search grid a moment ago.

How long it stays
Deleted when you close your browser, or after a short period of inactivity.

XSRF-TOKEN

Cookie, set by us

A security token that stops another website from submitting a booking request on your behalf without your knowledge. Every page that includes a form sets this automatically.

How long it stays
Same session as above; reissued the next time you load a page.

Search results cache

Browser local storage, not a cookie

When you run a search, the results are kept in your own browser's storage for a few minutes so that going back to the grid, or reopening a car you were comparing, does not re-run the same query against the live feed straight away.

How long it stays
Expires on its own after a few minutes, and clears whenever you clear your browser's site data.

Booking widget script

Third-party, set by the supplier

Once you open a booking panel for a specific car, that panel is a small script loaded from the rental supplier's own booking system, not from this site. It may set its own cookie so the supplier can keep your in-progress booking together while you fill it in.

How long it stays
Set by the supplier; governed by their own cookie notice, not this one.

2. Why the session cookie and security token are necessary

Under the rules that apply across the EU, a cookie that is strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for does not need separate consent. The session cookie and the XSRF-TOKEN above fall into that category: without the first, the site would forget your filters between clicks, and without the second, we could not tell a genuine booking form submission from a forged one sent by another website. Neither is used to build an advertising profile of you.

3. The supplier's booking widget

Once you move from browsing the grid to opening a specific car's booking panel, part of that panel is loaded directly from the rental supplier's own system rather than from hirecartenerife.com. That script can set its own cookie so the supplier's booking flow keeps track of the details you are entering. Net Tenerife does not control, and cannot remove, a cookie set this way; it is covered by the supplier's own cookie notice, usually linked from inside the booking panel itself.

4. How to clear or block these

Every modern browser lets you view, block or delete cookies from its privacy or site settings, usually under a heading like "cookies and site data." Clearing site data for hirecartenerife.com removes the session cookie, the security token and the cached search results together, since the cache lives in the same per-site storage area as cookies do. Blocking cookies for this domain entirely will stop the search form and the booking panel from functioning correctly, since both rely on the session to carry your inputs from one step to the next.

If you want to keep browsing without any trace, use your browser's private or incognito window: it still sets the same two necessary items for the length of that session, but discards all of them the moment you close it.

5. Changes to this page

If we ever add a new cookie, for instance if we later introduce a privacy-respecting analytics tool that sets one, this page will be updated to list it before it goes live, not after. The version in front of you now reflects what the site currently sets.

Questions readers ask about cookies

No. This site does not run ad networks or cross-site tracking cookies. The only items we set directly are the session cookie and the security token described above, both needed simply to make the search and booking forms work.
Blocking the session cookie and the security token will stop the search filters and the booking form from working correctly, because the site can no longer tell one of your page loads from the next or confirm a form submission is genuinely yours. Browsing the listings without submitting a search is still possible.
No. A cookie is sent to our server with every request; local storage stays entirely inside your browser and we never read it. We mention it here because it still affects your device, and because people searching for "cookies" usually mean anything a site leaves behind, not the strict technical definition.
Open your browser's settings, find the option for clearing cookies and site data, and clear data for this site specifically, or clear everything if you prefer. That removes the session cookie, the security token and the cached search results in one step.
That notice belongs to the supplier, not to us. Once you reach the point of booking a specific car, part of what you see on screen is served directly by that supplier's own system, and their cookie rules apply to that part of the page.
